Our Residential Solar Program
Customized Residential Ground Mount and Rooftop Home Solar Systems
We design, permit and install rooftop and ground mount residential solar systems that consider the Vermont seasons, shading issues, roof orientation, and your future sun-powered electric energy plan for your home. Your installation will be thoughtfully executed with the highest regard for your property and with quality and efficiency.
We take the time and have the expertise to consider both your current and future renewable electrical goals to deliver an optimal design with scalable options that can grow as your needs change. Whether you are building your dream net zero home, or upgrading your outdated, inefficient systems, we will help you plan long-term energy goals for your home to reduce or eliminate completely the need for dirty, expensive propane, oil, and gas.
We take care of everything from start to finish, including all the paperwork and permitting, and guide you through your questions as you navigate the various state and federal incentives. We’re here to ensure the home net metering process works for you.
Optional Solar System Add-On Integrations
Battery Storage Backup Systems: We install Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ batteries. A battery storage backup system will store your electricity for when you need it, night or day. In the case of a power outage, you will have a reserve of clean solar electricity as a cleaner alternative to a generator. When the sun is out, the solar generation will recharge the battery, giving you more electricity to use and giving your on grid solar system the ability to power your home if the grid goes down. We are certified installers for both GMP battery programs (ESS and BYOD) allowing for an affordable TESLA Powerwall or Enphase IQ battery system integration.
Please Note: We specialize in grid-tied systems with optional battery backups. We do not currently build off-grid systems.

Steps For Going Solar with SVTSOLAR
1) Get Ready For Your Consultation:
Locate your detailed electric bill (all pages) so we can analyze your usage patterns and identify meter numbers required for solar and battery installations. If you don’t receive a paper bill, you can download a PDF copy from the GMP website of your most recent bill.
Complete the inquiry form on our contact page.
We will reach out to schedule a phone or video consultation to discuss your personal long-term energy goals, help answer questions, and review the solar potential for your site using our remote tools.
2) Design and Proposal Process:
After the consultation, we’ll get to work so we can share a no-cost, no obligation, preliminary design and estimate.
If you like what you see, we will schedule our technical crew to complete a thorough on-site assessment.
After your on-site assessment, our team of PV electrical experts will further collaborate on your project and will confirm or refine the preliminary design and estimate. You will then receive a customized, detailed proposal. We will review the proposal with you to clarify any questions or concerns. At this point, we can further revise the proposal based on your particular needs and feedback if needed. Once you are happy and feel confident you want to move forward, we will send a contract.
3) Installation:
Once signed, we will take care of all the paperwork and logistics including the permitting, engineering, purchasing materials, and scheduling your installation. We handle the whole process for you, while keeping you in the loop throughout the process.
Our experienced crew and electricians will install your system. The average rooftop installation takes 3-4 days to complete. Ground mount installations can typically take 2-3 weeks. Battery Installations can take 1-2 days.
When your solar array is operational, we will coordinate with the utility to interconnect your new solar array. The utility company will install an additional meter called a gross solar production meter, and activate your net metering account.
Once your new system is net metered and able to send excess solar back into the grid, we will schedule an on-site walk-through with Simon, SVT Solar’s owner and master electrician. Simon will provide personalized training with your new performance monitoring system and a customized owner manual that includes equipment details, electrical sketches and warranty information.
